Evelyn Yang Garland
Evelyn Yang Garland has a solid background in science and technology and received her undergraduate degree from one of China's most selective STEM programs, which required rigorous training not only in life sciences (her major) but also in mathematics, physics, and chemistry. She later completed a master's degree in conference interpreting at the University of Maryland. Evelyn was an elected Director of American Translators Association (ATA) (2013-2019) and chaired the ATA Translation Certification Exam Chinese-to-English Graders Group. Evelyn is a frequent speaker on topics related to Chinese-English translation, translation quality, and translation technology (including machine translation). Qualifications - Court Certified Mandarin Interpreter, State of Maryland - Approved to interpret in U.S. federal courts and International Trade Commission - Certified English-to-Chinese and Chinese-to-English Translator, American Translators Association - Passed the U.S. Department of State translation exam - Passed the U.S. Department of State interpreting exam at the conference level (highest of three levels) - Passed the U.N.
